Naval Spotting - HMS Montrose (F236)

Today's post is not very aircraft-related, but this is one nice ship to photograph I must say. Spotted from the upper barrakka gardens in Valletta, the HMS Montrose visited the Maltese islands for a few days this December.

Just 2 months ago, it hit the headlines with a successful anti-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden.In fact, it prevented a gang of suspected Somali pirate vessels from attacking merchant ships crossing the Indian Ocean. HMS Montrose is part of a fleet of sixteen ship class of frigates, known as Type 23 or the Duke class.
